The simplest privacy policy you'll ever read: We don't collect your data. Period.

The Short Version
- All your data (sessions, tasks, captures) is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
- We literally cannot see what you're working on. No servers, no cloud sync
- No analytics, no tracking, no cookies (except essential ones for the app to function)
- No account required. No email collection. No personal information requested
What Data We Collect
None. Mushin is a 100% local-first application. Everything you create—focus sessions, tasks, quick captures, rituals, settings—is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on your device.
We do not have servers that collect, store, or process your personal data. There is no backend database with your information. We don't know who you are, what you're working on, or how you use the app.
What This Means For You
- Complete Privacy: Your focus sessions and tasks are yours alone. Nobody else can access them.
- No Data Breaches: Since we don't store your data, it can't be stolen from us.
- Device-Specific: Your data exists only on the device you're using. If you use multiple devices, they won't sync automatically.
- You Control Everything: Export your data anytime via Settings. Delete it all instantly if you want.
Browser Storage
Mushin uses your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage APIs to save your data locally. This is the same technology that allows websites to work offline and remember your preferences.
Important: If you clear your browser data or use incognito/private browsing mode, your Mushin data may be deleted. We recommend exporting your data regularly as a backup.
Analytics & Tracking
We use zero tracking. No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No heatmaps. No session recordings. No "anonymous" user IDs.
We have no idea how many people use Mushin, which features are most popular, or how long sessions typically last. And we're okay with that. Your focus is yours.
Donations
If you choose to support Mushin via our donation link (Gumroad), that transaction is handled entirely by Gumroad. We receive no personal information beyond what Gumroad provides (typically just an email if you choose to share it).
Third-Party Services
Mushin is a static web application hosted on modern hosting infrastructure. The hosting provider may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, access times) for security and technical purposes, but we do not have access to or use this data for any analytics or tracking.
Children's Privacy
Since we collect no data at all, Mushin is safe for users of all ages. However, our content is designed for adult knowledge workers and may not be appropriate for young children.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our approach to privacy (spoiler: we won't), we'll update this page and note the date at the top. The core principle will never change: your data is yours.
